Ephedra as medicine ?

The ephedrine in ephedra has the medicinal property of stimulatiing of the metabolism. Yet another important physiological action is the dialation of airways,  improving respiration. This is a useful combination for the treatment of asthma, allergies such as hayfever, and the symptoms of the common cold.
